One of this year’s early sensations in the freshman pacing colt division, Pujols, regained his winning ways with a 1:53.4 victory in the $47,600 Sarah Myers Stake final Sunday night (October 23) at Balmoral Park.

Driven by Chicago driving legend Dave Magee, the son of Cole Muffler sat fourth throughout the mile before making his move to the front at three quarters.

From there, the end result was never in doubt at Pujols powered away from rivals by 3 ¼ lengths.

Pujols was coming off a third place finish in the $300,000 Orange And Blue Final at Balmoral and was third earlier this summer in the final of the Woodrow Wilson at the Meadowlands.

With his victory on Sunday, the colt now sports a summary of 6-2-2 in 10 starts and $124,650 in earnings for owner Michael Polansky of New York. Pujols is trained by Tom Harmer and is a stable mate to the undefeated Jeremes Jet, the winner of this year’s Metro Pace and Governor’s Cup
