Trois-Rivieres, QC – The pacers are in the limelight at the Hippodrome 3R Tuesday evening headlined by Hooter Shooter going for his third straight win in the 7th race feature.
Starting from post nine in the second tier, Hooter Shooter has been red hot for trainer and co-owner Marc Andre Simoneau and Jean Fontaine, both of Trois-Rivieres.
A five-year-old gelded son of Badlands Hanover, Hooter Shooter will be driven by Stephane Gendron. In his last two starts, Hooter Shooter seems to not get out of the gate too fast but makes up for it once he gets into gear.
In both victories he has come first-over before the half mile marker and by the three-quarters he has the lead and then draws off from the field. He has won his last two starts by a combined total of nine lengths, the fastest a 1:55 triumph last week.
Starting from the rail is Appleby Hanover and driver Tyler Jones, the son of Dustin Jones. Young Jones is slowly making a name for himself at H3R, mainly because of Appleby Hanover.
This stallion by Well Said, has won two of his last three starts, the fastest a 1:55.1 lifetime mark for owner and trainer, Michel Allard of Saint-Esprit, the father of Rene Allard.
Other contenders in the field include Highpoint Chip (post two), Sportsranger (post five) and the always close Fortune Fella (post seven) who has four second place finishes in his six starts this year.
Post time is 6:30 pm Tuesday.
Also, of note, is that the three-year-old Quebec Champion from last year, Wildriverbumblebee, will make his 2018 debut at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday. Wildriverbumblebee is also eligible for the $200,000 Prix D'Ete at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, August 19.
