A bumper eight-race card will kick off the Albany Harness Racing Club season tomorrow night at Harold Reid Paceway.
The meeting is the first of 10 for the season which include annual highlights of the $20,000 Albany Cup on Australia Day and the $10,000 Denmark Cup on March 1.
But the club have lost their popular New Year’s Eve fixture to Gloucester Park. It has been replaced with the New Year’s Cup to be held on Friday, December 28.
“We are hoping we can still attract the same sort of crowd for the 28th but other than that it has been out of our control.”
Ms Moreth said the club’s committee had been working hard in the off-season and was looking to attract a younger demographic to meetings.
She said the club hoped to once again receive good support from visiting trainers and drivers.
The club will hold three Saturday evening fixtures in January with four Friday evening meetings in February and the final fixture on March 1, the $10,000 Denmark Cup.
Gates open at 5pm.
