Guareented and Padrisimo - are at this stage the two Australians most likely to compete in the Harness Jewels.

Pint-sized pocket rocket Padrisimo will compete in the 2YO Emerald section of the Harness Jewels after receiving an official invite on In The Gig last night.

Just moments after the announcement was made, trainer Andy Gath took to Twitter to confirm that his two-year-old Bettor’s Delight colt would be at Cambridge come May 31st.

“Thanks for the invite Harness Racing New Zealand. It’s an honour. We will be there will Padrisimo,” said Gath.

Padrisimo has had seven starts for five wins and a second with stakes in excess of $70,000.

Gath, along with owner Rob Calder, is no stranger to campaigning horses in New Zealand having enjoyed moderate success with Caribbean Blaster, who finished third in last year’s New Zealand Free-For-All.

The other three invitees announced last night were Bling It On – 3YO Emerald, Bamako Mali – 2YO Diamond, and Claudys Princess – 3YO Ruby. However, her connections have already said that it is highly unlikely that she will make the trip across the Tasman.

Of the three earlier Australian invitees which consists of Guaranteed, Frith, and Blitzthemcalder, it seems that the Emma Stewart trained Guaranteed is by far the most likely to compete, with his connections all but confirming he will grace us with his presence.
