New Zealand-born harness racing reinsman Michael Paris notched his first win at Gloucester Park when he drove veteran pacer Unsinkable Boxer to a dashing all-the-way victory in a 2130m mobile event on Tuesday night.
The ten-year-old Unsinkable Boxer, prepared by Brad Lynn, was favourite at 13/8 and he rated 1.57 in beating Nicnak Paddy Wak by two lengths.
The 28-year-old Paris was having about his tenth drive at Gloucester Park. His only other WA success was with Hoylakes Next Lady at Wagin last March.
He drove three winners, behind trotters, at Cambridge in New Zealand, before moving to Western Australia four years ago. His first winner was with seven-year-old mare Milldorf for trainer Dave Iremonger.
“I’ve been in and out of the game a bit,” he said. “I help Brad and work part-time for a stockfeeds company.”
