Veteran gelding Thundering Bay survived a long first over journey to take the $6,500 Winners Over Handicapped Pace featured on Sunday night's harness racing card at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Thundering Bay ($8.70) advanced first over to wear down free-legged pacesetter Zambuca Gass and the pylon-skimming If I Remember in a three-across finish. The time of the mile was 1:54.3 with Thundering Bay prevailing by a quarter length. If I Remember edged by Zambucha Gass for the runner-up honours.

Darcy Clancy trains and drives the 11-year-old son of Albert Albert, who earned his 21st lifetime win for owner/breeder Walter Clancy of Odessa, Ont. The victory was Thundering Bay's third in his last five starts and pushed his career bankroll to $134,591.
