Perfect Sting remains undefeated after winning the $250,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes Final for two year old pacing colts and geldings at the Red Mile today.
After settling fourth, the son of Always B Miki made a move to the front during the 26.6 second quarter.
He was challenged at the top of the home straight, but he responded to win going away by two and a half lengths.
Perfect Sting is now a perfect six for six and has earnings of $194,400.
His time today was 1:49.8 – his second sub 1:50 mile of the season.
Perfect Sting is the third foal of the fast Bettors Delight mare Shebestingin 1:47.
Interestingly there is a New Zealand connection with Mark and Pauline O’Connor owning Wantapieceofme, a half sister to Shebestingin.
Always B Miki is the current leading first season sire in the US. While his book is full in Australia he is still available in New Zealand at a fee of $7,000 plus GST.
