The Judicial Control Authority (JCA) today (Thursday 10 December) released its decision on the charges put against Cambridge harness racing driver Philip Butcher for his drive on Awesome Armbro on Friday November 13 in the Group One Woodlands New Zealand Free-For-All (FFA) at Addington Raceway.

The JCA upheld the charge that Butcher drove Awesome Armbro in a manner which was capable of diminishing its chances. The more serious charge of improper driving was dismissed by the JCA.

Harness Racing New Zealand is to have submissions on a penalty filed with the JCA by 4pm next Tuesday December 15. The defendant's submission in reply is due by 4pm the following Friday (December 18).

Following this the JCA will release its decision on the penalty.

"Worst fortnight of my life!" - Butcher.
