Photo Maxx - A SJ’s Photo gelding winning at Dover Downs again.

Photo Maxx made the winner's circle photo for the second straight week in the $26,000 Open trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday Jan. 12. Previously Mike Cole drove Photo Maxx from behind to win the week's top trot last week and twice in the last three harness racing starts.

This time the SJ’s Photo-Affinity gelding wasted little time getting the lead and then never looked back in a 1:55.4 victory for owner-trainer Lauren Allen. The victory pushed Photo Maxx’s lifetime earnings to $390,294. Starsel (Daryl Bier) raced gamely to finish second with Cold Winner (Ron Pierce) the third place finisher.

Ron Pierce steered Steve Anderson’s Sea Raven, trained by Kay Gannon, to give the only distaff in the race her third success in four races to win the $18,000 Winners-Over trot in 1:56.4. Good Feeling (Ross Wolfenden) and Commando K (Vic Kirby) finished second and third respectively.

In a $15,000 trot, Tom Jackson and 9-1 Luvyabutleave came on strongly to win a three-horse photo in 1:56. The win brought the Gary Cameron II-trained SJ’s Photo-Lady Ballerina mare into six digits purse earnings with $106,884 owners for Arlene Cameron and Sarah Swart.

Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta’s Matrix Hall won the $10,000 trot as Ross Wolfenden drove his second winner of the day piloting a 1:56.1 victory. The Conway Hall-Melissa Hall gelding was followed by Master IN Charge (Allan Davis), second, and Jobo De’shabra (Mike Cole), third.

Roger Plante, Vic Kirby, Ron Pierce, in addition to Ross Wolfenden, recorded driving doubles.

The longshot of the day came when Roger Plante guided 32-1 Xlb Joker from off the pace charging home for a 1:54.1 score for Bill Stephenson and trainer Joe MacDonald in a $10,000 Male pace. Waylon Hanover (Matt Kakaley) was runner-up. Western Number (Ron Pierce) picked up show money.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. N Saturday and Sunday racing begins at 5:30 p.m. No live racing on Fridays. Parking and admission is free. Reservations are suggested for the Winner's Circle Restaurant 302-674-4600.
