Pompano Beach, FL…April 6, 2016…When the six year-old mare Diamonds Princess earned her initial win of the 2016 season in 13 starts with a 44 to 1 upset in the Tuesday finale at Pompano Park, it set the stage for the largest Super Hi-5 payout in Pompano Park history.
One unidentified bettor was able to come up with the correct 4-2-3-9-7 combination with the 20 cent ticket worth $182,716.56.
Diamonds Princess, trained by Mike Micallef for the Baron Racing Stable, was driven this night by Dave Ingraham, who steered the mare past the 4 to 5 tote-board favorite, Pacific Date (Aaron Byron), in deep stretch for the win.
With Mayabelle and Gaston Lareau finishing third at 24 to 1, followed by Machin Marley (9 to 1) and Diva Las Vegas (69 to 1), the Super Hi-5, requiring one unique ticket to take down the entire pool, was hit for the seventh time this season.
Those who wagered their $2 to win on Diamonds Princess were enriched with a $90.40 payday while the 4-2 exacta came back at $379.40 with the 4-2-3 trifecta combo returning $1,710.00. The 20 cent superfecta of 4-2-3-9 paid $1,251.88.
