Pop I (John MacDonald) would win the Vernon Downs featured trot ($9,000) on Saturday (September 2).
Pop I (Andover Hall), who is owned by Glat Kosher Racing and trained by Harry Landy, would put up all the early fractions :27.0, :56.0, 1:25.1.
Sweet Ashley T (Jimmy Whittemore) would take the lead at the top of the stretch. The two trotters would battle back and forth all the way down the stretch. In the end it was the 7 year-old gelding, Pop I ($5.20) the winner in 1:54.2. He would win for the fourth time this season and the 28th time in his career.
Sweet Ashley T had to settle for second. Waiting On A Woman would come up for third.
MacDonald would add three more wins on the night. His victories were with Miss Ruby ($2.20), Thundercrest ($4.90) and Mac's Black Hat ($4.50).
