TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, October 3, 2015 – The trotters own the limelight at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday with eight going to post in the sixth race feature.
While the "hit or miss" antics of Maximuscle behind the starting gate will be the main focal point of the race, there are others in the race that will be ready to pounce on any mistake he makes.
Over the past two month the great Maximuscle has come upon hard times for driver Mario Charron, trainer Maxime Velaye and owner/breeder Ecurie Provoquante of Mirabel, QC.
It seems that the four-year-old son of Angus Hall, who won the Quebec-Bred Series Championship at ages 2, 3 and 4 (this year) and is a career winner of $192,000 with a record of 1:54.2 this year, can't stay on stride before the start of a pari-mutuel race. Yet, he goes perfectly fine in a qualifying race.
Both trainer and driver are mystified by their top trotter's strange bad habits and are hopeful Maximuscle will behave on Sunday. Despite his antics as of late, he is the 5/2 morning line favorite.
Caroluzzo, the 3-1 second choice in the race from post four for driver Stephane Gendron, will be ready to pick up the slack if Maximuscle miss cues again. The six-year-old chestnut stallion by Musclesextrodier has been on a roll as of late, finishing first, second and third in his last six starts for trainer Daniel Martin.
Other contenders include Beer Mags (post five), Meganou (post one) and return winner Somoli E (post six).
