Prince Vince used a front-stepping performance to easily capture the $15,500 Hothead Open for state-bred pacers Friday night at Maywood Park.

Driven by trainer Joe Anderson, the 7-year-old son of Sportsmaster led at every pole to score his third victory of the season in 1:55.1.

wned by Anderson Racing Inc. (Janet & Joe Anderson) of Crete, IL., and the Sommersby Stable (Stephen Slender) of Del Mar, CA., Prince Vince upped his seasonal earnings to $25,837. The robust brown gelding has finished off the board only once this year in six tries and posted a 1:52.4 clocking at Balmoral on Jan. 26.

rince Vince was hustled out quickly from post five by Anderson, and then rattled off fractions of :27.1, :56.3, and 1:26, before using a :29.1 final brush to hold off rival Fighting Gypsy (Brent Holland) by nearly two lengths at the wire. I Believe Its True (Brandon Simpson) nailed down show honors.

rince Vince has earned $449,779 in his career, and posted a 1:50.3 clocking at age 4.

He’s amassed a 24-25-21 record from 158 lifetime starts, and is a full brother to Brother Vinny p,3,1:52.1 ($60,359); Fox Valley Fallon p,3,1:52.3 ($58,629) and Fox Valley Estella p,4,1:54.3 ($23,963). He was bred by Fox Valley Standardbreds and was sold as a yearling for the bargain basement price of $6,500 on Aug. 11, 2002.
