The prestigious amateur event on Prix d'Amerique weekend went to reinsman Alf-Torfina Skele and his Italian charge Lord Dany in the Prix Coupe d'Europe des Amateurs on Saturday, carrying a purse of 16,000 euro over the 2100 meter autostart course.

This years' race, which was open to International equine starters, was limited to European drivers. Lord Dany (9g Varenne-Athena Egral-Supergill) was off at 3.8/1 odds and is trained by Italy's Marco Smorgon. The winner scored, timed in 1.14.7kr, by a dwindling margin over fast closing Middle East (9g Express Ride-East Is East-Victory Dream) and teamster Joey Vignoni for Swedish trainer Jarma Niskanen. This one was a 44/1 outsider.

The Quinte+ race of the day, the Prix du Jura, went to front-stepping Olympic Kronos (6m Viking Kronos-Ebony Kronos-Pine C hip) and trainer/driver Lutfi Kolgjini. The paid easily scored in 1.14.5kr over the 2850 meter distance. The Quinte+ jackpot this day was 3.3 million euro and a two euro exact ticket without the jackpot paid 31,650 euro. Tomorrow's special Q+ jackpot is 10 million euro for the "classique" Gr. I International Prix d'Amerique.
