Races named for two of the all-time great international trotters were contested today at Cagnes sur Mer. Axius du Fosse (4m Jag de Bellouet-Joie du Fosse-Cygnus d’Odyssee) took the 24,000 euro purse Prix Elaine Rodney in 1.15kr for driver Charles Criado at 6/1 odds. The winner scored over the 2150 meter course over Amiara de la Croix (4f Jasmin de Flore-Lamelare-Workaholic) with Italian trainer/driver Marco Smorgon aboard.

The Prix Ourasi for 50,000 euro purse over 2925 meters went to Slow du Beauvoisin (8g Jain de Beval-Gina du Beauvoisin-Podosis) and trainer/driver Romuald Mourice. The 3/1 second choice used a 25 meter distance advantage to secure his 13th career win, now for earnings of 274,850 euro. The winner scored in 1.15.6kr to defeat 14 rivals including second place Quiby des Caillons at 61/1 for reinsman Nicolas Ensch that traveled 2950 meters.

At Wolvega, the Prix Robert Bi – Elite Challenge went to Mister Bi (5g Andover Hall-Georgia Bi) in 1.15.6kr over 2100 meters autostart. Robin Bakker drove the winner for trainer Arnold J. Mollema and owner Az. Agr. Biasuzzi Srl.

Tomorrow Paris-Vincennes presents two graded events, the Gr. II Prix de Tonnac-Villeneuve led by the Ready Cash daughter Axelle Dark, with Joseph Verbeeck to drive, and the Gr. II monte Prix Leon Tacquet headed by Vision Intense and usual jockey Nathalie Henry.
