Two of Australasia's most powerful harness racing stables nabbed 16 winners last weekend. New Zealand's leading trainers Mark Purdon and Grant Payne nailed nine of them at three meetings, while Luke McCarthy won seven at three Australian meetings.

The Purdon-Payne team won four races at Alexandra Park on Friday night, and then followed that up with two wins at Addington the following evening and then another three at Methven on Sunday (December 11).

Their highlight wins came when I Can Doosit and Ohoka Dallas set records at Alexandra Park and Methven on Friday and Sunday respectively.

McCarthy won two races at Newcastle on Friday night and followed that up with one at Cranbourne, and then four at Tabcorp Park, Menangle - both on Saturday.

His highlight wins came at Newcastle and Cranbourne when he claimed both Cups with Mach Wiper and Mr Feelgood respectively.

Purdon and Payne lead the 2011-2012 New Zealand training premiership with 48 wins ($612,916) - 15 clear of Cran Dalgety.

Meanwhile, McCarthy leads the New South Wales training and driving premierships with 75 ($760,123) and 44 wins ($475,848) respectively.
