Love You’s son Quaker Jet, a multiple Group 1 winner in France and whose frozen semen is available to ‘down under’ breeders from the Victorian-based Haras Des Trotteurs, has bounded to the forefront as one of Australia’s most successful trotting sires in recent months.
His oldest stock are three-year-olds, and this season he has been represented by one of Australia’s outstanding young trotters in Im Ready Jet Tr 1:55.6 ($100,940), who won the Group 1 $60,000 Need For Speed Princess at Melton in February and earlier had captured the $100,000 Breeders Crown as a two-year-old.
Cracker Jet, a winner of four races this season, Dizzysjet, a winner in 1:56.1 at Menangle last week, the dual Melton winner Electrojet (Tr 1:59.3), Im Hector, From The Swamp, La Serena and Quake Proof, a winner at Ballarat on Wednesday (September 16), have been other winners from Quaker Jet’s first Australian crop.
Actually, Quaker Jet has made a spectacular start as a sire in Australia. In his first season he left 24 foals, and of these he has had 14 to the races for eight winners and four placegetters.
In New Zealand, Quaker Jet’s first crop of 10 foals has produced three winners including recent Cambridge winner Expensive Crumpet and a qualifier from four starters.
Love You, the champion sire of Quaker Jet, has the outstanding four-year-old Ultimate Stride carrying the flag for him in NZ. The chestnut entire, a dual Group 1 winner at two, stretched his winning sequence to seven and made it nine wins from 13 starts when he led most of the way at Addington, carving out his last 800 in 57.8 and 400 in 28.2.
Meanwhile, Majestic Player, who was bred by Haras Des Trotteurs principal Pat Driscoll, maintained his devastating form when he won a $40,000 Open at Scioto Downs, Ohio in 1:51.6. The five-year-old gelding, who is the fastest ever Australian-bred trotter, has now won 12 of his 15 starts in North America and $US138,950 in stakes.
