In the Prix Belgique,Maharajah made a steady start and took the immediate lead on his first look at Vincennes..

He kept the lead all the way round, confirming he is a serious threat for the Prix d'Amérique, in two weeks.

Trainer Stefan Hultman said: "There's still much to do before the big day, knowing that French trainers know exactly what they're doing when it comes to prepare a horse for the Prix d'Amérique", he said.

Second placed Nuit Torride (Bolero du Coq) also impressed after coming from the back of the field and she was followed home by Oasis Gédé (Buvetier D'aunou) and Quaker Jet (Love You).. Although he was still last entering the straight, Oyonnax flew hom for fifth on the wire and will also be one of the favourites with punters.

Italy has found a new hero by their world champion Varenne when Lana Del Rio prevailed in a dramatic finish in the Prix Ténor de Baune, a Group 2 for 6-year-olds with a Prix d'Amérique ticket on offer.

Lana Del Rio, was impressive in outdueling Ready Cash (Indy De Vive) the bookies early favourite for the Prix D'Amerique, but more drama was to follow at the end of the race.

It was Sweden's Yarrah Boko (Coktail Jet) with Jean-Michel Bazire on board who led the race from the start. But as the heat went on around the final bend, Yarrah Boko went off stride as they turned allowing Lana Del Rio to take over. Ready Cash, with his trainer Thierry Duvaldestin in the bike, loomed outside and the pair battled down the straight but the Italian mare held on.

The stewards immediately opened an inquiry regarding Ready Cash' gait in the final lengths and he was disqualified for not trotting squarely in the last portion of the home straight. Look MP (Sugarcane Hanover) was promoted to second with Rodrigo Jet (Coktail Jet) third.
