Quality yearlings on offer - 21st Alabar sale

The annual Alabar Bloodstock Blue Ribbon Sale of harness racing broodmares and yearlings is generally regarded as the best production sale in the country. The 21st renewal, to be conducted by Davidson Cameron & Co Dubbo at Alabar's Echuca farm on Sunday, September 23, features an outstanding catalogue of 87 horses including broodmares, yearlings, two and three-year-olds and other racing stock.

There are 20 yearlings catalogued and it is a quality bunch. All the leading sires are represented including Mach Three, Grinfromeartoear, Real Desire, Major In Art, Always A Virgin and Santanna Blue Chip.

Among the offering are colts and fillies closely related to ‘black type' performers such as Lombo Skyrider, Lombo La Fe Fe, Mr Nickel, Lagoon Lady, Fake Left, Lifeinthefastlane, Pembrook's Delight and Two Under.

The 54-strong broodmare contingent features several classy racemares headed up by former national 2YO and 3YO of the Year Whitby's Miss Penny, the grand-dam of crack West Australian mare Ima Spicey Lombo.

Other former racemares listed for sale are Lincoln Beach Girl 1:54.1, the Bathurst Gold Tiara winner Donna Lombo, Connetic Score 1:57.6, Nullabor Song 1:57.9 ($100,432) and Paksa Punch.

There's half-sisters to the Little Brown Jug winner and champion sire Fake Left, the New Zealand Cup and Miracle Mile winner Christopher Vance, the dual Derby winner Franco Sequel, Fields Of Honour 1:51.8 ($521,984), the dual SA Southern Cross winner Alzona, Bonn Star ($305,396), Loving Life Lombo (Edgar Tatlow) and former trotting standout Zesta.

Champion sire and broodmare sire Classic Garry is represented by four-in foal mares including Lifeline, the dam of three in 2:00 and grand-dam of this year's Victoria Oaks winner Beauty Secret, and Princess Hayley, the dam of promising stayer Matty Chrimes,

The sale will commence at 1pm. It will be preceded by a parade of Alabar's stallions including Art Major, Courage Under Fire, Mr Feelgood, Shadow Play, Major In Art, Grinfromeartoear and Mister Big.
