Trois-Rivieres, QC – The Quebec Regional Fair Finals will take place on Sunday at the Hippodrome 3R with the entire harness racing program, all 12 races, are devoted to the Fair Finals.
This is the second straight year that the Quebec Jockey Club has played host to the Quebec Regional Fair Finals at the Hippodrome 3R.
It was in 1983 that the beginnings of what would later become the "Regional Circuit of Quebec Horse Racing" was first formed. At that time, a dozen amateur race tracks were operating in Quebec, but independently.
The goal of grouping these tracks and having an organized Fair Circuit race season came from Paul-Andre Lavigne, Francois Parr and Wilfrid Flora, who founded the "Provincial Association of Amateur Racing Clubs Inc.".
The finals of the Regional Circuit, is a culmination of a successful season in 2019 that saw fifteen events this summer and will feature categories of racing not familiar at the Hippodrome 3R, but exciting none-the-less.
The 12 races will feature the finals for two and three-year-old trotters and pacers plus special finals for four-year-olds and older horse divisions. Each of the 12 finals has a purse of $4,000.
Most of the horses entered have competed throughout the summer on the Fair Circuit throughout the province of Quebec.
The Fair will also feature many young drivers seeking their professional pari-mutuel driving and training licenses.
The 10th and 12th races are dedicated to these young drivers.
The 10th race features Patrice Dumas, Kiwon Waldron (who is from Bermuda), Mathieu Desrochers, Sam Fillion, Antoine Derochers, Joel Gagnon and Sebastien Harvey.
In the 12th race it is all female drivers. Competing are Lena Quellet, Johanne Dechamplain, Guylaine Gagnon, Nathalie Migneault, Nancy Auger, Roxanne Viau, Jessica Turenne and Wendy St Pierre.
First race post time Sunday is 1:00 pm. For a free race program and to watches the races live via computer, visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
