Trois-Rivieres, QC – Quebec's top two and three-year-old trotters and pacers will be on display at the Hippodrome 3R Friday as the youngsters are preparing for Super Sunday next week.
Friday is the third and final leg of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old trotters. The top eight point earners in the series return for their respective $55,000 finals next Sunday, September 27. Super Sunday in Quebec will be the richest day of racing in the province with nearly $500,000 in purses.
The first race of the day is the $10,000 colt division of the Future Stars Series. Featured is Kinnder Dangerzone from post seven for driver Pierre-Luc Roy.
The son of Northern Escort has been razor sharp for owner, breeder and trainer Denitza Petrova of Melbourne, winning his last two starts in the series and will seek to make a clean sweep of the preliminary rounds.
Other contenders in the race include Hall Win (post 1), Aoki (post 8) and Incredible Hall (post 5).
The $10,000 filly division is a non-wagering race held after the first race. Mag N Lady (post 1) is the standout in the four-horse field. The daughter of Royalty For Life has won both her starts in the series, scoring last week by distancing the field in 2:02, just missing the track record for her age, gait and gender. She is trained and driven by Jean Francois Maquire, who co-owns the filly with Julie Maquire, Richard Legris and Pascale Maquire.
Then the action turns to some of the top contending three-year-old's in next Sunday's finals as they take on older horses in prepping for the finals.
The third race Preferred Trot spots Babidibou, the 2019 Quebec Champion two-year-old, trying his luck against the best trotters in the area. He starts from post four for driver Stephane Gendron and is on a two-race win streak, the fastest a 1:57 lifetime best mile for trainer Maxime Velaye and co-owners Isidoro Russo and Guy Corbeil.
Then in the sixth race pace, the three best fillies for Sunday's finals, go head and head. Lotus Sena (post 1) won an opening round of the series for driver Stephane Gendron. In post six is Acaena De Chakrika who has two straight wins in the series, the fastest in 1:56.4 and in post seven is her rival Streakazana, who is also on a two-race win streak.
The seventh race trot is somewhat of an oddity as a three-year-old filly is the favorite over eight older horses. That filly is Kinnder High Class, the older half sister to Kinnder Dangerzone who is in the first race.
Starting from the rail, Kinnder High Class won her last start with an impressive first-over mile in the series, winning in a romp by seven and one-half lengths in a lifetime best 1:59.4. She sports five wins in eight starts this year for Denitza Petrova.
