Harness racing fans and bettors are still looking for answers after an exacta payoff on a Nov. 29 race at Yonkers yielded a suspiciously low payoff and the price was sliced by 87 percent within a matter of a few seconds. The New York Gaming Commission has launched an investigation into the race and will eventually release its findings and clarify what happened.
In the meantime, Harness Racing Update has examined the records of the wagering for the race in question and they show that it is unlikely that anything illegal took place. But they also raise the question of whether or not the industry could do a better job when it comes to large, last-second wagers that sometimes lead to questionable payoffs.
