WILKES-BARRE, PA – Fans trying to solve the $13,000 featured pace on Monday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono had a hard time in their deciding – one horse was sent away at 2-1, with three others at 5-2.
That quartet finished 1-2-3-4, with the winner being the A Rocknroll Dance sophomore gelding Record Machine in 1:54 over a "good" track.
Record Machine got the jump on his field early, moving to the lead after the 27.2, then getting a big-time breather to the 57.4 half. From there he was able to sprint home for driver Eric Carlson in 56.2, downing Bag Pipe Major by a length, with Atomic Seelster third and Just My Kinda Guy (the lukewarm 2-1 favorite) fourth.
Gilbert Garcia-Owen trains the winenr of $65,775 this season for his father Gilbert Garcia-Herrera.
The meet's leading driver, George Napolitano Jr., had three sulky successes on the card; his brother Anthony, Matt Kakaley, and Ãke Svanstedt each had a brace.
