Nichols, N.Y. — A first-over bid into a fast pace would be enough for Bound For Fame in Friday (August 14) evening's $14,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs, as he was able to overpower his five rivals for a 1:54.3 harness racing victory.
Corey Braden settled the 8-year-old S J's Photo gelding just off the pace, drafting from midfield through a :56.2 middle half before making his move out of fourth on the backstretch. As pacesetter Jailhouse Jessica (Jim Marohn, Jr.) opened up on the backstretch, Bound For Fame wore down odds-on favourite Spice It Up Lindy (Mike Simons), ultimately working clear in the final sixteenth. Bound For Fame expanded his lead to 1-1/4 lengths, prevailing easily in 1:54.3 over Jailhouse Jessica. Six Bax (Jim Taggart, Jr.) rallied through traffic from the back of the pack to save third.
Mike Forte trains Bound For Fame for Rags to Riches of PA, LLC and Mark Goldberg.
Live racing returns to Tioga on Sunday (August 16) afternoon, with an all-stakes program kicking off at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time.
