On Sunday (August 18) Raceway Park handled its largest handle since July 5, 2009. The $177,639 four year-high came on a 12-race program featuring eight divisions of freshman Ohio Sires Stakes. The Sunday card had 83 total starters.
“We have worked very hard this year to create a casual and exciting on track experience, and secure new simulcast outlets to export our product to. The local horsemen have been very supportive and we are proud of their commitment and the races we present here in Toledo,” said Raceway Park General Manager Mark Loewe. “It is nice to see these numbers coming on a night where the majority of the races were for Ohio breds. This means that our Ohio horses are well received on the national betting stage. It is even more exciting when you factor in the great opportunities on the horizon for Ohio racing.”
More Ohio Sire Stakes action will be on hand this Sunday, August 25 as the three year-old trotters take to the stage. Raceway Park will continue to race every Saturday and Sunday through September 15 with a 6:00 p.m. post time
