Today makes history when Hippodrome Cote d'Azur (Cagnes sur mer) in France hosts dual breed cards starting at 1:50pm, local time, on the beautiful seaside racecourse.
Ten afternoon "horse" races will be followed by six in the evening with a 6:00pm post. Races will alternate every 15 minutes, starting with Quinte+ trotting event that begins the festivities.
While logistics challenges exist and punter prognostications (and budget stretching) will be interesting, France and its racing stakeholders believe the challenges must be met to continue growth and to learn from the experiences.
Additional dual breed race-days are planned at Enghien and elsewhere during 2014. Various European designed racetracks are ideally suited due to existing trotting, gallop dirt and turf courses with facilities for their traveling judges and filming cars.
