Devonport Harness Racing Club president Claire Macdonald promises an action-packed night at the races.
“There will be races every 20 minutes, and we will have great free family entertainment,” she said.
Jumping castle, glitter tattoos, pony rides and other entertainment will be available for children.
Mrs Macdonald said she would like to see local horse Chief Destroyer take the cup.
“I think if it goes away from the stand then Dapper Dana might be a chance,” she said.

“It’s great because the grandstand is located so close to the track people will be able to see right on the finish line.”
The event will be televised.
“The first race will be on Sky2, and the rest will be on Sky1, which goes nationally and internationally,” she said.
“The benefits of being televised are the betting turnover, and it's where our industry funding comes from, it’s the area that the industry has the potential to grow.”

The evening will feature not only the racing but also the fashions on the field competition.
This year will be the first time in over a decade that the fashions will feature.
There will be a people’s choice award in the fashions on the field voted by spectators for a gold coin donation, which will go towards an ovarian cancer charity.
The Bureau of Meteorology has foretasted a partly cloudy day with a low chance of rain in the evening.
Gates open at the Devonport Showgrounds at 5pm. The fashion on the fields registration is free and will close at 5.50pm.
