CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The weather may have been cold but the Jackie Matheson stable was nothing short of red hot on the Saturday evening program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Charlottetown trainer sent six horses to the starting gate on the weekend program at the capital oval and never missed the top three, including four trips to the winner's circle. The action started in race 3 for Matheson, as father Ron Matheson was in the bike for a 2:03.4 score aboard Artners In Crime.
Father and son teamed up again in race 4 as Ron steered Four Corners to a 2:02.4 victory, then driver Gilles Barrieau scored a pair of Matheson trainees to victory winning with Ashes To Ashes in 1:59.3 and Give Em Heck in 2:00.4 over the track rated three seconds off.
Rose Run Quest found his way to victory in the $2,650 preferred pace with an off-the-pace victory for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown, stopping the clock in 1:58.3.
Tobinator (Driven by Corey MacPherson) cut out the mile with fractions of 28.1, 57.1 and 1:28.1 giving the cold shoulder to a parked out Czar Seelster (Kenny Arsenault). Euchred (Adam Merner) had his win streak snapped in the race as he finished second best while Mr Irresistible (Jason Hughes) was third.
