Charlottetown PE- Old Home Week is officially in full swing and Saturday afternoon marks the first double header of Old Home Week 2014.
The 12-dash card will feature the first showing of the Atlantic Sire Stakes, with three 'A' and three 'B' stakes for three-year-old fillies scheduled for a 1 p.m. post time.
The Atlantic Sire Stakes 'A' action gets underway in Race 7 with the two top fillies in the Maritimes set to do battle. Elm Grove Inarush has drawn post 2. The three-year-old Coasttocoast Yankee - Seawind Alpha filly come into the $9,500 'A' division with three straight victories including a track record performance in her last start at Inverness Raceway, she stopped the clock in 1:55.3. The Seawind Amg bred filly is owned by Blaine Thibeau, Gordon Macleod, Grant Mann and trainer Eddy Doucette. Regular driverwill be in the bike as the filly closes in on $80,000 in career earnings.
The Maritime Breeders champion Lovineveryminute has drawn the outside post 6. Bred and co-owned by River Valley Management along with Lana Murphy and Windemere Farms, the- Deliver Me daughter is trained by Watts, will handle the driving duties. A winner of five races this year, Lovineveryminute finished second to Elm Grove Inarush last start pacing her mile in 1:56.2. Woodmere Trulyblue, Sail Through, Libertys Gig and Gracious Minnie round out the field.
Last year's two-year-old champion looks to be rounding back into form as a three-year-old, Saulsbrook Alana found her way back to the winner circle in Inverness last week winning in 1:56.4 by seven lengths for owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford,is the trainer on the winner of just under $75,000 lifetime. will pilot 'Alana' from post 4 in Race 9.
Last weeks second place finisher Fleurje has drawn into post 3 for the Buntainwood Farms and trainer Nick Oakes. Thefilly will reunite with regular driver . Dusty Lane Dora, Outrageous Spirit, Sea Anna Win and Absolootly Hot complete the competition.
Race 11 is the final division of the Atlantic Sire Stakes 'A' divisions, Post 3 starter Pictonian Sareta will try and get the Sire Stakes monkey off of her back. The- Southview Selena filly has four top three finishes from four Atlantic Sire Stakes starts and will look to get into the Sire Stakes winner circle this time around for owner Dan Ross and trainer - driver .
Waterhook will make her 'A' division start after winning a 'B' stake during Lobsterfest week. The daughter ofhas drawn post 1 and has been installed as the morning line choice for owner Bruce Wood. The trainer - driver combination of and handle the controls. Charlottes Style, Newsmaker, Bettim Jenny and Briannas Angel are the other starters.
Atlantic Sire Stakes 'B' action goes in races 5, 8 and 10. Tarahumara is listed as the favourite in race 5, Race 8 favourite Babies Gigolo has drawn post 2 and the 10th race favourite is J J Mistress.
The Race 12 feature will host a field of eight starters and will also include Hurrah 4 Island Charities. Hurrah has drawn post 7 for trainer - driver. All of Hurrah's earning for the month of August will be donated to the P.E.I. Special Olympics as part of the Hurrah 4 Island Charities.
Two aged trots will go in races 1 and 3. Glencove Umay has drawn Post 6 in the first race for owner - trainer Carl Bagnall. Newcomer Rate Exchange will make his Island debut in race 3, the winner of over $400, 000 lifetime is trained by Jonah Moase and Campbell will do the driving.
