CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - Pinner is on course to make Charlottetown harness racing history.

The pacer will line up in the $2,000 race 11 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park in search for his ninth win in-a-row Saturday afternoon. The first race of the 13-dash card kicks off at 1 pm.

Pinner shows no signs of slowing down for driver Marc Campbell, trainer and co-owner Brian Ladner and co-owners Kevin and Lillian Ladner as no new competition has surfaced to defeat the son of Mach Three. Callie Hal is believed to hold the record for most consecutive wins in Charlottetown with 12 straight victories over 50 years ago. Pinner's main competition will come from Miracle Matts (Corey MacPherson), who was closing well to finish second in last week's feature event, along with previous runner-up Cambest Kisser who will have Kenny Arsenault sub in for absent trainer Jason Hughes. Other entries include McJestic (Brodie MacPhee0, Nobestbfor (Walter Cheverie) and Panacotta (Blaine Baglole).

A full field of eight will contest the $1,800 Open Trot in race 4. Zip The Lip is selected as the morning line favorite from post 5 for driver Brian MacPhee and O'Leary co-owners Donald Sweet, who also trains, and Orville Willis. The trotter was unsuccessful in the last two Open trot events and the upset winner two times ago, Caliban Hanover, has a favorable post this week to try again. Caliban Hanover (Ron Gass) has post 3 at 3-1 morning line odds while the former king of Island trotters, Abundaspin (Harold Shepherd), is shouldered with post 8. Race analyst Les MacIsaac has selected Zip The Lip to capture top honours.

"After a long winning streak he's now gone two straight without one, something you can attribute to his not being able to secure the lead," MacIsaac said. "If Brian can get him back there today it could be all over."

The race 7 $1,750 back-up pace has Veronicavermillion (Brodie MacPhee) favored over Van Zant (Ron Matheson) and McMaverick (Ken Murphy).
