Charlottetown, PE – On a day full of long shot winners at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park Corey MacPherson managed to steal the show bagging five winners on the 13-dash harness racing card.
MacPherson was rocking early in the card striking with the early daily double. He converted with J J Tanner to score the firs half and than managed to end the 0 for 19 streak of Diamond Mind in the second.
The man they call 'Tiger' struck with a pair of heavily bet trotters, Holy Molie Maggie pocket popped at the five-eighths to crush her rival by five and than came back in the Open Trot with front-end tactics to score a two length victory with all-aged trotting track record holder Osprey Impact. It was the fourth win in a row for the daughter of Federal Flex owned and trained by Paul Larrabee.
The winning ways continued in Race 7 as the Atlantic rep at this years National Driving Championship rocked Western Sexy, a first time starter for trainer Phil Sizer to point before giving way to Onehotvett. MacPherson once again popped pocket past the five eights and blew them away by nine.
On a day filled with long shot winners which included a pair of over $40 winners, Best Risque strutted her stuff in the afternoon feature to defeat the boys and return $22.40 on the nose.
The Brain Ladner trainee set up an Old Home Week like opening quarter hanging Forever Paradise out for most of the opening quarter in: 26.2. After clearing Mike McGuigan had no choice but continue to roll as post time favorite Clic K pressured the fraction setter to a half in: 55.2.
'The Blue Knight' Jason Hughes made the winning move up the back side moving out from the two-hole through a three-quarters of 1:25.4 and taking command of the field, the nine-year-old daughter of Cammibest stopped the clock in 1:56.3 from Ladner and family, Lillian and Kevin Ladner.
The win gave Hughes a driving double on the card, which handled $37, 326
