Summerside, PE – All Chocolate is now in the history books after touring Red Shores Summerside in 1:54 flat to set a new track record for aged pacing mares on Monday night.
Driven by Marc Campbell, All Chocolate, owned by Perry Burke and trained by Trevor Hicken, fought for the lead as the field touched down on a 28.1 second opening panel.
That set the stage for the rest of fractions with the half reached in 55.4 while the three-quarters flashed up at 1:25. The timer had the duo on the line at 1:54 which erased the track record owned by Ramblinglily and Abby Best.
The open mares contest went to Ramblinglily in 1:56.2 for driver Water Cheverie and trainer Allan Jones.
Driver Jason Hughes had a driving double aboard trotters I Aint No Lady and Thunderaway. Kenny Arsenault also paraded two winners with O Christopher and American Captain getting their pictures taken in victory lane.
Governor's Plate action continues Tuesday at 7:00 pm featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms two and three-year old trotters, Summerside Chamber night at the track and the official draw at 8pm for the 48th running of the Governor's Plate presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge.
