Red Shores Summerside played home to a flurry of stake action on Sunday afternoon featuring the harness racing two-year-old colts and fillies in the Joe O'Brien and Lady Slippers stakes.
Tobinator bounced back with an eye catching performance in the lone Joe O'Brien Gold division for $16,000. The Trevor Hicken trainee used a Corey MacPherson first over trip to over power fraction setter and the post time second choice Carters Caper. The 1:56.3 clocking was his lifetime best score from four victories and just one fifth of a second off the two-year-old track record. The son of Coastocoast Yankee is owned by Kent Livingston, Perry, Robin and Luke Burke.
The win was part of a driving triple for the reinsmen MacPherson who scored with Magical Cowgirl in a Lady Slipper Grassroot and Just A Professor in a condition.
The daughter of former Maritime free-for-all pacer Proven Lover, Filly Forty Seven used front-end tactics for driver-trainer Marc Campbell to score in the first Lady Slipper Gold division for $11,000. Campbell blasted his charge to the point and held off a late charge from Tobins Secret for her third victory of the season in a lifetime best 1:59.2. She is owned by Daryl Maclean, Kate Smallwood, Corey Carver and Tanya Tremblet.
Campbell had a driving and training double on the card scoring with Ryans Allstars in a O'Brien Grassroot division in 1:58.4.
Mark Bradley picked up a pair of 'Slippers' during his Sunday afternoon duties. Bradley guided his own trainee Shesaroyal Cowgirl to a pocket ride victory in the second Gold division. The red,white and black released Goodmorning Ky to the lead after post time favorite Woodmere Dreams made a break. Bradley tipped her out at the top of the stretch for her second straight victory also in a lifetime best 1:59.2. The daughter of Brandons Cowboy is owned by Brian and William Andrew.
Bradley scored with Keep It Country in a Grassroots division. Positive Outcome and Traces Of Purple won the other two Lady Slipper Grassroots. The Hawk was the winner of the other Joe O'Brien Grassroot.
The Ultimate Stable, trainer Sifroi Melanson and driver Mark Pezzarello had a team double winning with Ultimately Handsome and Ultimate Flyingnun in the Peter Coughlin Memorial.
The afternoon wager was $36,658. Racing returns to Red Shores Summerside for a special Labour Day card.
