CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - Under the command of Ken Murphy, Machinthesand vanquished his feature foes Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The veteran Mach Three pacer was on top at every call in the $2,350 Preferred 2 pace as he laid down fractions of 27.3, 56.2 and 1:26.3 before closing out the mile in 1:54.2. Three Truths (Driven by Kenny Arsenault) rallied to finish second in the speedy trip while Red Magician (Adam Merner) was third.

Machinthesand is trained by Barry Folland for owner Noonan Holdings Ltd., of Summerside, P.E.I. It was one of two wins on the program for Folland, as Toad River was a 1:58.1 victor with Marc Campbell at the lines in race 8.

Dusty Lane Jacob shocked the $1,950 Open trot with a 34-1 upset for driver Merner and trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague, P.E.I. MacDonald co-owns the six-year-old son of Nureyev with Tanya MacKinnon of Souris, P.E.I. Frill Seeker (Arsenault) was second with Suicide Shift (Steven Shepherd) being placed to third to complete the $386.60 triactor.

Gilles Barrieau scored four wins on the weekday program with victories aboard his own Finnish Your Way in 2:01.2, Sports Highlights in 2:00.4 for trainer Todd Walsh of Charlottetown, Cougar Gal in 1:59.1 for Neil Bambrick of Charlottetown and Woodmere Soul in the finale for trainer Jackie Matheson of Stratford, P.E.I.
