CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Eagle Jolt will have to make the best of a bad spot to land in the winner's circle in Thursday night's harness racing feature event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
First race post time is 6:30 p.m. for the 12-dash card with Eagle Jolt favoured from post 7 in the $2,000 race 11 feature. Marc Campbell trains and drives Eagle Jolt for owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell. Post 7 could prove complicated with challenges from post 1 starter Mcjestic (Gary Chappell) and post 2 entry Perfect Escape (Ron Matheson). Likely To Win has yet to miss the board in his last seven starts and gets post 6 with Adam Merner at the lines.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac puts Eagle Jolt as his number one choice.
"The seven hole could complicate matters but if he can get some live flow and a cover trip to bring him into it late his chances go way up," MacIsaac said.
Other entries include American Captain (Kenny Arsenault), My Lucky Killean (Ken Murphy), Fightmaster (Mike McGuigan) and Three Truths (Vaughan Doyle).
A field of Open trotters will face off in race 6 with Freddie assigned the outside in the field of seven, with track record holder Osprey Impact absent this week. Marc Campbell drives Freddie for the Three Wisemen Stable of Cornwall. Holy Molie Maggie will have 1,228 race winner John Holmes making a return to the bike from post 1 for his son, trainer Jeff Holmes. Thunderaway is another top entry in the $1,850 class with Mark Bradley picking up the catch drive for trainer Jason Hughes, who is in Ontario competing in the National Driving Championship.
