CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Nogreatmischief will be looking for more of the same in the Thursday night harness racing feature after scorching the track in his latest effort at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
First race post time is 6:30 P.M. for the 12-dash card with Nogreatmischief the morning line choice in the race 12 $2,100 feature event. Walter Cheverie trains and drives the son of Bettor's Delight that he also co-owns with John Thompson of Charlottetown. The pacer was a winner in 1:55.2 in his latest and gets post 5 to work with this week. Narragansett was third in last Thursday's feature to Nogreatmischief but is saddled with post 8 this week with Jason Hughes in the bike while Starcastic gets rail control with Gilles Barrieau in the bike.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac thinks a repeat is a real possibility for Nogreatmischief.
"As good as Nogreatmischief has been the past couple of years he was never better than he was last time," MacIsaac said. "When you couple that performance with the positive trend of dropping his time in every start they'll have their hands full keeping him from doubling up."
The field is rounded out by Tempo Seelster (Driven by Vincent Poulton), The Big Bite (Kenny Arsenault), Darth Bader (Ed Harvey), Zingers Laugh (Mike McGuigan) and Alberta Sky (Ken Murphy).
The race 3 $1,850 Open trot will see the Red Shores Charlottetown and Summerside track record holders square off. Charlottetown track record holder Freddie has post 6 in the field of seven with trainer Marc Campbell at the lines for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Osprey Impact has post 7 fresh off a Summerside track record performance of 1:57.2 in her latest. Cheverie does the driving for owner-trainer Paul Larrabee of Belle River. Other Open trot entries include I Aint No Lady (Hughes), Holy Molie Maggie (Barrieau), Dusty Lane Jacob (Adam Merner), Wedgewood (Gary Chappell) and Zip The Lip (Brian MacPhee).
Race 9 on the program is in honour of Don and Joy Spence's 55th wedding anniversary with Brief Interlude the morning line favourite from post 2 in the $1,200 event. Merner will drive Brief Interlude for trainer Paul Conway of Bonshaw.
