CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – There was no stopping Rose Run Quest as he wired the field in the harness racing Preferred Pace Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell finishing his driving grand slam in the race 10 feature for a $2,900 purse as Rose Run Quest was on top at every call to win in 1:54.4 for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. The seven-year-old son of If I Can Dream was sent off as the post time favourite and went straight to the front through splits of 28.2, 57.1, and 1:26.3 en route to his victory. Doctor Royal (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) was second while Euchred (David Dowling) finished third.
Campbell's other wins came with Hysteria in 1:58 for trainer Michael Gallant of Charlottetown, with Zingers Laugh in 2:00.2 for Neil Bambrick of Charlottetown and aboard Mach Of Ballykeel in a 1:59.4 for Kyle Wilkie of Charlottetown.
Innocent Kiss continued her dominance in the $2,800 Fillies and Mares Open pace as she scored a neck victory in 1:56 for driver Adam Merner, who co-owns with Max Sehl of Port Morien, N.S. The Melissa Rennie trainee delivered a mild upset at $16.20 to win as she repeated the finish from last week with Sodwana Bay (Barrieau) finishing second. Third place went to Ramblinglily (Campbell). The event was the first leg of the Drive For Home Series sponsored by Hillside Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac.
Rennie had two training wins as Red Magician won the race 11 finale in 1:56.1 with Merner at the lines for owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale.
