Trois-Rivieres, Quebec – Rivalries are what can make harness racing great and an early rivalry is in the making as Tuscans Memory again takes on Panamas Boy in the second round of the $200,000 Quebec-Bred Series for two-year-old trotters Wednesday at the Hippodrome 3R.
In their opening round first meeting last week, Tuscans Memory was given a perfect drive by Pascal Berube, following the excellent cover behind Panamas Boy (Stephane Brosseau) and collaring him at the wire for a half length triumph.
Now the two colts will lock horns again in the 4th race second division of the series. Tuscans Memory starts from post five with Panamas Boy inside of him in post four.
Both youngsters have good leaving ability so the early form of the race shapes up the same as last week. It will be a dash to the finish and may the best horse win.
Also to be considered in the race are EAU Naturelle (post one) and SOS Christina (post three).
The first race first division on the program is highlighted by two newcomers to Trois-Rivieres in Sass and Defi Normand.
Sass, saddled with drawing the outside post eight for driver Clark Steacy, is still a maiden after five starts but shows all seconds and thirds in his last four starts in the Ontario Sire Stakes and has been race timed I 1:59.
Defi Normand ships in off a strong third place finish in the OSS at Georgian Downs, race timed in 2:01. He starts from post six for driver Pierre Bovay.
First race post time Wednesday is 7:00 pm. For more information visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
Prix D'Ete Notes: Daniel Dube will be returning home for the Prix D'Ete and has committed to drive Somewhere In L A for trainer Jimmy Takter. Owner Jeff Bamond said today that they will not be sending Ideal Cowboy to the Prix D'Ete. "While we had a great time last year and looked forward to returning this year, he (Ideal Cowboy) is just not good enough right now."
