All of the harness racing three year old colts and geldings racing in Sunday’s Pepper Tree Farm NSW Breeders Challenge, including the two emergencies, will be stabled in the Retention Barn at Tabcorp Park Menangle from midday this Saturday June 27.
Previously horses competing in the Inter Dominion and Miracle Mile have been stabled at the complex however it is the first time HRNSW has required NSW Breeders Challenge runners to be in the facility.
HRNSW CEO John Dumesny believes the Retention Barn plays an important role in the sport’s integrity.
“HRNSW will continue to lead the industry and measures like the Retention Barn at Tabcorp Park Menangle provides an assurance to participants and punters that everyone is competing on a level playing field,” Dumesny said.
“There are 48 surveillance cameras in the barn as well as security guards present at all times so connections of each horse can be assured that all horses will be closely monitored throughout the period.”
The three year old colts and geldings will remain in the facility until Sunday afternoon when they can enter the on course stables.
All trainers should note all horses competing in Gr.1 races on Sunday are required on course two hours prior to the event.
