It would be fair to say that New Zealand harness racing breeders have never really taken to the brilliant Swedish racehorse and sire Revenue.
A great racehorse in both Europe and North America, Revenue improved as he got older with his best season being when he was eight when he took his lifetime mark of 1:51.6 on his way to earning $937,968 that season.
Retired to stud after that season having made $2,375,768 in lifetime earnings, Revenue wasn't exactly rushed by breeders in North America yet has still been able to wrack up some impressive numbers.
But the stock of Revenue didn't hit the ground running early on and he was moved back to Sweden before the great Market Share 1:50.2 ($3,274,011) arrived along with such talented trotters as Hot Shot Blue Chip 1:51.2 ($1,202,702) and Break The Bank 1:51.3 ($1,104,630).
As of today the stock of Revenue have earned $17,027, 695 in stakes in North America from just 328 foals with 32 in 1:55
His sons and daughters in Sweden have joined in with 82 winners to date for stakes in excess of 32,000,000 SEK.
Available through frozen semen at Nevele R Stud, Revenue has just six 4 year olds on the ground in New Zealand.
Of those six, four have qualified and three have been winners with Dead Cat Bounce (3 wins) ($19,569) and Revenue Maker (2 wins) ($15,496) both looking as though they haven't reached their mark yet.
Revenue has just three 2 year olds in the current season with five yearlings and 13 weanlings waiting in the wings.
It would be no great surprise to us if one of those still waiting to race did a “Market Share” and proved to New Zealanders what the rest of the world already knows; that Revenue is a high quality sire.
Still available via frozen semen for the coming season at Nevele R at $5,000 on 42 day test or $6,000 on live foal, Revenue would seem great value on the strength of his siring record in both North America and Sweden.
