Australian harness racing fans will get their first chance to see Ridgehead Cahore in full flight this Friday night, after the European squaregaiter drew two in the UFO Sulky Australia The Knight Pistol.

A well travelled son of Buvetier D'Aunou, Ridgehead Cahore made his Aussie debut last weekend at Melton but drew poorly and was never a factor after settling back and breaking stride mid-race.

The scenario will be very different this time around, with Terje Melnas' nine-year-old set to unleash his devastating early speed and lead the Group 1 race within moments of the start.

Melnas was present at Harness Racing Victoria headquarters this morning to witness the Knight Pistol draw, which provided a range of interesting results.

Chief among those, after the super draw for Ridgehead Cahore, was noted leader The Fiery Ginga's outside-second-line draw (13) while Sundons Gift (3) and Stig (6) both drew nicely off the front line.

Friday night's The Knight Pistol represents the penultimate chance for trotters to qualify for March 23's inaugural Great Southern Star, an Elitlopp-style series boasting $350,000 in prizemoney.

There are already 14 qualified runners, although I Can Doosit will miss the series with injury.

Other highlights from Friday night at Melton include the SEW-Eurodrive Flying FFA featuring Ballarat star Decorated Jasper and two age-restricted features for juvenile and classic pacers.

In the Benstud Standardbreds Youthful Stakes for Two-Year-Old Colts and Geldings, Presidentialsecret should be short in betting against a crack field of up-and-coming pacers.

While in the HBV Trackbred 3YO Classic, Breeders Crown champion Glenferrie Shuffle will meet Vicbred Super Series winner Our Femme Fatale and NSW Oaks queen Itz Nosurprisesthere.
