Enghien-Soisy’s Prix de Washington (Gr. II UET Masters Series, 1609 meters autostart, purse €120,000, 12 starters scratched to 11 by departure of A Nous Deux) went to 1.2/1 favorite Robert Bi (5m Toss Out-Up Front JM) with Robin Bakker teaming for trainer Paul Hagoort and owner K.K. Bljkerk of Holland.
Robert Bi led much of the way in this sprinter contest to defeat Uprince (7g Prince d’Espace-Malupricia) at 6/1 for Franck Nivard and trainer Thierry Raffegeuu with third to Germany’s 10/1 Chapeau (6m Love You-Crowntess) with trainer/driver Christophe Martens up for Italian owner Renato Bruni.
Italy’s Pascia’Lest, at 13/1, and Sweden’s Beckman, at 45.1, finished fourth and fifth in this event in which the winner was clocked in a sharp 1.10.6kr (1:53.60 mile rate).
The pace was quick, at 1.07.4kr at 1000 and 1.10.4kr with 500 meters to go.
Roi du Lupin, Princess Grif and Rue du Bac were all disqualified for miscues.
Robert Bi’s full-brother Oasis Bi was second today in the Kymi Grand Prix at Kouvola.
