The state of Ohio has a lot of horses to be proud of, but the combination of Buck I St Pat and Won The West have certainly made a very impressive name for themselves, as the harness racing season has finally come to a close of the Ron Burke Racing Stable.

The awards were passed out at the annual United States Harness Writers Awards Banquet which was held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Marriott Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. with nearly four hundred people in attendance.

It's a year that the Ron Burke Stable will never forget because there is an expression that the cream rises to the top, has to take an exception to this one because the cream overflowed the cup.

The stable not only won their share of races, but put together the finest year any harness horse trainer could have dreamed of, by compiling over $18,000,000.00 in earnings for the 2010 season.

Buck I St Pat was not only the aged trotting mare of the year but she has now won it three consecutive years, which four other mares have accomplished. She needs to do it one more time to tie the consecutive record for an aged mare, at four. With Tim Tetrick in the bike for almost all of her starts, she could very well accomplish this feat in 2011.

Buck I St Pat seasonal earnings were:

19 starts 9 wins 3 seconds 4 thirds $715,135.00

lifetime earnings: $32,117,087.00 lifetime best: 7  1:51 M

Owners: Howard Taylor, Abraham Basen, Edwin Gold, Breeder/Partner Dr. Ron Fuller

Won The West was able to put together not only a career year in earnings, Ohio's Horse of the Year, but also his second year in a row as the aged pacing horse. That was because he had in the bike the successful and legendary driver David Miller, who helped bring about this successful year for him.

Won The West seasonal earnings were:

19 starts 7 wins 8 seconds 3 thirds $1,368,088.00

lifetime earnings: $3,487,024.00 lifetime best: 5  1:47 M

Owners: Strollin Stable, William J Robinson & James Koehler Breeder: Fair Winds Farms, Inc.

The thrills and the excitement are not for the history books, but a new season is about to dawn and they will be putting back on the bridles, bits, boots and harnesses, to start this new chapter all over again.

"So Let's go over to the tracks and root them on."
