Former West Australian harness racing horseman Ryan Hayter secured his first win for his new employer Tom Kilkelly at Forbury Park tonight (Friday). Hayter became stable foreman for Southland trainer Tom Kilkelly in February of this year, and tonight was another step in the right direction for the 23 year old who reined home Churchill Bromac for a decisive win in the junior drivers event.

Hayter took the son of Badlands Hanover to the front with 1700m to run and was never headed in the run home, winning by a length from Maddison Hill with Tom Petty home in third.

With 16 horses currently in work Ryan Hayter is relishing his opportunities and his share of the responsibilities. "It's working out really good, when things need to be done Tom always makes it happen, and he's given me the opportunity to get my name out there as well," said Hayter.

The former Bunbury resident is no stranger to the deep South having formerly worked for Kirk Larsen before a shift North to join the Clevedon stable of Gareth Dixon. " Im used to the warmer conditions but I do love it down here, even if it is a little cold in the winter," he said.

Although tonight's win by Churchill Bromac caught punters by surprise returning odds of 34-to-1, Hayter says the gelding isn't short on talent. "He's got lots of ability but just needs to apply himself, we added full-blinds tonight and they seemed to help, and when Dexter came around he got-up on the steel which was good."

Also tonight the country's leading reinsman Dexter Dunn extended his lead at the top of the Drivers Premiership. Dunn bagged yet another hat-trick to take his tally to an incredible 192 wins, just twelve shy of his record breaking 204 posted in season 2009/10. It now seems inevitable that the 21 year old will set a new record in a season that has also seen him achieve his best strike-rate ever with an impressive UDR of .3006.

Top Sire: Christian Cullen 3 wins.
