In exciting news for South Australian harness racing  with an increase in prizemoney and the format of the SA Sires Stakes series known as “The Southern Cross Series” which is conducted for both 2 and 3 yo’s with all four finals worth $60,000 ( this seasons finals were worth $54,000) and total prize money for the Series now over $550,000 an  increase of 30% .Also a change of dates with the 2013-14 series  with finals night set down for August 9th 2014.
Outstanding filly Flagbearer  continued her sensational juvenile season with an amazing 22 meters victory in the 2yo fillies Golden Nursery Final Flagbearer (by Courage Under Fire out of Quba Flame) stood head and shoulders above her rivals.  On the line it was Flagbearer by a mile, running her last half mile in 58.3 hard held,. Reil Quick ran on nicely for second but was no match for the winner. Revered finished third. Flagbearer has now deserves a crack at the big time and may head to Melbourne to take on the Australasia best in the Breeders Crown in Melbourne.
Major Cruise  returned to Betezy Park Globe Derby after finishing down the track in the VicBred Super Series at Melton, to take out the colts division. Classy 3yo Lombo Keepa Secret took out the 3yo fillies BOTRA Final and remains unbeaten in SA. Trainer Toby Ryan was the lucky winner of the Rio Meteor Sulky courtesy of Garrard’s Horse & Hound.
Exciting news for South Australian Harness Racing fans with Lance Justice planning another SA Cup campaign for superstar Smoken Up. The old champ “ Trigger” returned to the track in a official trail at Melton last week Smoken Up was narrowly beaten by Mildura Cup winner Five Star Anvil. Justice declaring after the trail his mission is a record breaking 5th SA Cup in January
