After plenty of backlash since the weekend harness racing's Tabcorp Park Menangle’s track surface spoke for itself today.
The Lauren Panella-driven Im Supersonic had no problem with conditions when smashing the C0
class record clocking 1:52!
Im Supersonic led from barrier to box going through the quarters in 27.5, 28.9, 27.8 and 27.8 seconds.
And was one of many winners on the day that led throughout. A few came from behind as well including talented trotter Rainbow Jay Jay who clocked one of the fastest last 800m seen at that track for his gait when overcoming the last two quarters of 27.6 and 28.3.
The last winner of the nine-race program, Super Sea, clocked a career best 1:52.2.
On Monday a few winners had “lucky” peg runs, just like Mach Beauty did to win a heat of the Inter Dominion and Awesome Belmer in the Garrards Sibelia Stakes on Saturday night – the part of the track that has received the most criticism.
But is there any track that handles rain, more rain and constant rain? The only thing that was certain about the Tabcorp Park Menangle track was that the local horsemen didn’t stop working their horses on it at any time during the wet period.
