The Swedish Breeders Crown for 4YO males at Eskilstuna tonight is missing many of its leading money-earners with Trav-Derby winner Mosaique Face, Quid Pro Qho, Indigious, El Mago Pellini, Increased Workload and Standout all missing from the top ten.
Porthos Amok is the highest earner in the field with just under 2million SEK banked, while World record holder Digital Ink and Thai Broadway are the only three who are currently in the top ten money earners.
Stefan Melander’s Porthos Amok won his heat of the Trav-Derby and was second in the final to Mosaique Face. The son of Orlando Vici won his Breeders Crown heat and has ace driver Bjorn Goop in the bike and has a great draw at three.
However Melander’s other charge Digital Ink is a dominating favourite for the event even though he was beaten by Dreams Take Time, who he meets here again, in the semifinal.
The Super Photo Kosmos gelding had to overcome a tough trip in that race and was still impressive and as long as he can get a drag through from his second line draw behind polesitter by Molle C.D. he should be able to get well positioned to get a decent chunk of the €235,000 prizemoney.
Dreams Take Time is the second favourite and the son of Andover Andover has a great draw. With ace driver Johnny Takter in the cart, he will get every chance to add some Group I credentials to his CV.
Trond Anderssen’s Thai Broadway was considered unlucky in the semifinal and has to overcome a bad draw in this but is very talented.
Daniel Redén Molle C.D. has been consistently among the top contenders in the big races this season but has been hampered by the draw. But the son of former Hambletonian winner Scarlet Knight gets the ace which will enable him to use his gate speed to advantage. If he can get to the front Per Lennartson might have the horse to win this from the front.
While Viking Kronos and his sons provided half the field in the 3YO equivalent of this race, there is only one Viking Kronos son in this field in Lutfi Kolgjini’s Viking America.
French sire Orlando Vici is represented by two runners, while Kiss Francais is also a French sire and the only other European sire is Skogans Orlov, a Swedish sire of mixed German, French and Swedish bloodlines.
Broadway Hall and Ken Warkentin are the only two US resident stallions represented, with one horse each but the rest of the field are by North American imported sires.
