Winning three races from 14 starts is a fair effort for any harness racing animal but when it's done with having cheated death twice makes it an amazing feat.
All Style Sammy delivered a brilliant effort to notch his third career win at the Luxbet Racing Centre in Launceston last Sunday night after which his trainer-breeder and part-owner Michael Smith revealed the horse almost died twice.
Smith revealed the horse was two days old when he almost died of a scrotum hernia but had somehow survived the ordeal and in January this year the now four-year-old contracted a dose of the scours and that to almost cost him his life.
"This horse is definitely a survivor and from what he's shown so far he also has his share of ability," Smith said.
On Sunday the bay rig by BGS Folly came from well back a lap from homer to run down race leader and favourite Smilin Geoff with the winner clocking a slick 57.8 seconds for his last 800 metres.
All Style Sammy has won three and been laced as many times from his 14 outings for over $20,000 in stakes.
