Three Blind Mice NZ with harness racing driver Matthew White in the sulky, upset a class field of three-year-olds leading from the get go to win the $200,000 Sky City Western Australian Pacing Derby at Gloucester Park last night (Friday 11th April).
It was the son of Santanna Blue Chips biggest win to date and only his third win from just the 14 lifetime starts. The Howlett trained gelding out of the Holmes Hanover mare Time Again Franco was formally trained by Brent Mangos in New Zealand and was exported to WA in October 2013 after just the six starts for one win.
It was once again an all New Zealand finish with the first four home being New Zealand Bred.
The race was over 2536 meters rating a 1:57.5 mile rate with the last half in 57 seconds. Eye Crusher was second with the two favourites Elegant Christian finishing fourth and Machtu coming home well for third.
