Santastics Pan, the first son of the champion racehorse and harness racing sire The Panderosa to be imported to Tasmania, will do stud duties this season at Big Park Stud, Karoola, near Launceston, of Lyndon and Gail Menegon.

Santastics Pan was a top racehorse himself, winning close to $600,000, and he was a world champion at three years when he took his own best time of 1:49.6 on a five-eighths track.

The winner of 26 races, Santastics Pan won Stakes events as a two, three and four-year-old racing against top horses such as Leading X Ample, Modern Art, P-Forty Seven and Metropolitan.

Santastics Pan, who was first at stud in New South Wales where he has left several promising types from his first small crops racing, is one of the most stylishly bred horses at stud on the Apple Isle.

The Panderosa, the sire of Santastics Pan, is one of the greatest siring sons of a champion sire and broodmare sire in Western Hanover. He is the sire of 36 on the 1:50 list and the winners of $86-million including Ponder, sire of two of America’s current leading three-year-olds, Thinking Out Loud 1:47.8 (North America Cup) and Bolt The Duer 1:47.8.

Santastics Pan belongs to a noted female line, his dam Santastic 1:54.6 being by Camtastic, sire of the Hunter Cup winner Mister DG and dam sire of Smoken Up, from Marfa Newton, by Big Towner from Miss Bullet, by Bullet Hanover, one of the fastest sons of Adios.

Santastic, the dam of Santastics Pan, has proved a prolific broodmare. She is also the dam of Ray’s San 1:50.8, Heather’s Western 1:53 and Allie’s San 1:54.6 and the second dam of All Or One 1:50 and Full Picture 1:51.

While his grand-dam, Marfa Newton has left six in 1:55 and is grand-dam of Canadian 2YO Colt of the Year Nebupanezzar and The Mohegan Pan 1:49.4.

Santastics Pan will stand for a fee of $1800 payable on live foal or $1650 on 42 day positive test and his semen will be available to all States.
